Midsummer Party
The daylight has returned to the Northern hemisphere and the sun does not set at all. To celebrate this we arrange a traditional Midsummer party. We gather around good Scandinavian food and enjoy “new” potatoes with butter, dill and herring, salmon with mustard sauce, fresh vegetables, fruits and a lot of flowers on the table. We will of course enjoy snaps, beer, vines and fresh juices.

After the dessert and coffee we play traditional midsummer games with our children, around a nicely decorated Maypole.

Crayfish Party
After the Scandinavian holiday period in July-August, it is nice to return to Rio de Janeiro with the eternal summer as we “Scandinavians” see it. The season starts with an annual Crayfish party. Every year we use a secret recipe for making the local crayfish with the most Scandinavian taste possible. The famous snaps drinks and the traditional following funny/silly/burlesque drinking songs is an important part of enjoying crayfish. This event will take place in September in different places of Rio de Janeiro every year.

Christmas Party
We Scandinavians love our white Christmas. The snow will bring in light in the midwinter darkness as well as the Saint Lucia. Here in Rio we don’t have much snow but, we dress up for the Christmas party and it is very nice to gather round the typical Scandinavian Christmas food and the nice decorated Christmas tree. The menu consists of slightly different things depending on which part of Scandinavia you are coming from. Anyway it is a big event and a possibility for the Scandinavians and their spouses, living in Rio, to wish each other a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
